17/5/2025- Fairy Bower

Max Depth: 7.8 metres

Time: 84 minutes

Temp: 20 degrees

Another pretty good dive at Fairy Bower. Water was a bit green but still saw a few eagle rays, plenty of wobbegongs, some Kingfish and all the usual suspects. Also spent some quality time with Basil the turtle.

1/6/2025- Shelly Beach

Max Depth- 7.2 metres

Time- 70 minutes

Temp: 19 degrees

Good dive- find it hard to go into detail about my dives at Shelly and Fairy Bower because they always go the same and are usually very good. Basil the turtle, a Crested Horn Shark and some wobbegongs, including a huge female with mating scars, all made appearances.

2/6/2025 The Steps

Dive 1

Max Depth-15.5 metres

Time- 60 minutes

Temp- 19 degrees

Went right from the entry towards the Leap. Water was odd. The first 5 metres were 14 degrees and had 2 metre vis. Below 5 metres, it opened up to about 7 metres vis and was 19 degrees. A pretty good dive. Saw a large Grey Nurse Shark, which is pretty unusual for this site, a reaper cuttlefish, a big belly seahorse, a fiddler ray and plenty of nudibranchs from 4 species. Unfortunately, my camera housing fogged, so the Grey Nurse photo turned out to be pretty crap.

Dive 2

Max Depth: 14.3 metres

Time: 44 minutes

Temp: 19 degrees

Unfogged my housing between the dives. Went down to check for Pygmy Pipehorses, and then went to the left towards the monument. Saw the aforementioned Pygmy Pipehorses plus a large Smooth Stingray. Unfortunately saw no Weedy Seadragons.

15/6/2025- Bare Island West

Max Depth: 16.3 metres

Time: 55 minutes

Temp: 16 degrees

Bare Island is one of Sydney's most dived sites, but I haven't done much diving there, and want to explore it more. Dive started off pretty boring, only the usual fish around, plus the very big Blue Groper who lives there. However, as we reached the corner cave area, things started getting good. There were large schools of yellowtail and some squadrons of squid hanging around. I found a large Black Stingray and a huge Giant Cuttlefish, at least 80 centimetres long. Unfortunately, at that point, we had to turn the dive. Aside from those, saw some nudibranchs.

19/6/2025- Fairy Bower

Max Depth: 7 metres

Time: 55 minutes

Temp: 17 degrees

Just basically went for a paddle looking for Giant Cuttles, saw those so mission accomplished. Vis was very good.
